Baihuayan Rougui | Wuyi Zhengyan Rock Oolong — Sweet, Smooth & Richly Layered
Baihuayan Rougui | Wuyi Zhengyan Rock Oolong — Sweet, Smooth & Richly Layered
Baihuayan Rougui · 百花岩肉桂
From the renowned Zhengyan (genuine rock) terrain of Wuyi Mountain, Baihuayan sits within a sheltered valley microclimate that tempers the rocky mineral energy into an extraordinarily sweet, smooth expression of Rougui.
The enclosed basin softens the intensity typical of high-rock oolongs, nurturing a tea liquor that is silky on entry, lingering in finish, and deeply satisfying across many steepings.
Tasting Notes
- Dry Leaf: Tightly twisted, plump and dark brown with an oily sheen; carries a warm ripe-fruit sweetness and soft caramel fragrance before the first pour
- Liquor: Bright orange to orange-red, clear and luminous with a viscous, oily quality
- Aroma: Opens with lush floral-fruit and honeyed peach; mid-steep blooms into the signature cinnamon-bark spice of Rougui; the finish drifts into honey, subtle wood, and a persistent floral cup-coating
- Palate: Smooth and round, with a sweet returning finish and generous salivation; rock rhyme (yanyun) is pronounced
- Leaf Base: Soft, supple leaves in even red-brown tones
Why Baihuayan?
Baihuayan's basin microclimate creates a gentler diurnal temperature range compared to exposed cliff faces, allowing the leaf to accumulate sugars and aromatic compounds without excessive harshness. The result is a Rougui that is bold in character yet refined in delivery — a hallmark of true Zhengyan craftsmanship.

Product Description
Product Description
Baihuayan Rougui originates from the Zhengyan (genuine rock) growing area of Wuyi Mountain, within a sheltered basin microclimate that moderates temperature extremes. This unique environment produces a tea liquor that is notably sweeter and smoother than exposed cliff-face Rougui, with a silky mouthfeel, vivid orange-red clarity, and a lingering salivating finish. Rock rhyme (yanyun) is prominent and the tea sustains well over many steepings.
