Collection: Chen Pi

Chenpi (also spelled Chen Pi) is the dried peel of ripe tangerines, specifically from the Citrus reticulata Blanco family. It is a traditional Chinese ingredient with a history spanning centuries, valued both as a health-giving food and a herb in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).

A key characteristic of Chenpi is aging. Freshly dried tangerine peel is called "orange peel," but only after being stored for at least three years does it earn the name "Chenpi," which translates to "old skin." Like a fine wine or pu-erh tea, its quality is believed to improve with age. High-quality Chenpi can be aged for decades, developing a more complex, mellow, and aromatic flavor profile.
