Hua Zhang Liu Bao Tea — Red Bean Soup | Thick, Silky & Deeply Warming Dark Tea
Liu Bao That Drinks Like a Bowl of Red Bean Soup — Hua Zhang Red Bean Soup
There are teas you sip. And then there are teas you settle into. Hua Zhang Red Bean Soup is the second kind. A Grade 1 Liu Bao from Wuzhou, Guangxi — dual-warehouse aged, zero warehouse off-notes — this is a tea built for depth, warmth, and the kind of full-bodied satisfaction that only a slow, patient brew can deliver. If you love thick, silky, glutinous textures and the quiet sweetness of slow-cooked red bean, this tea was made for you.
The Dry Leaf
Dark, mature twisted leaves with some natural stems — a sign of balanced fermentation and body. The dry fragrance is warm and comforting: grain sweetness, cooked bean, and a faint aged wood note that hints at the depth waiting inside.
In the Cup
The liquor is a deep, rich ruby-red — concentrated and luminous, with a fullness that is visible before the first sip. On the palate, the signature character arrives immediately: a thick, silky, glutinous texture that coats the mouth like slow-cooked red bean soup — smooth, slightly sandy, and deeply satisfying. The sweetness is restrained and internal, building slowly and staying long. No sharpness. No bitterness. Just warmth, depth, and a lingering comfort that stays with you.
How It Feels
Full-bodied and enveloping — this is a tea with presence. The tea energy is steady and grounding, warming the body from the inside out. The longer it steeps, the more completely the red bean character unfolds. This is a tea that rewards patience, and repays it generously.

Product Description
Product Description
Hua Zhang Red Bean Soup is a Grade 1 Liu Bao sourced from Wuzhou, Guangxi — the historic heartland of Liu Bao production. Dual-warehouse aged in both northern and southern storage environments, it has developed a depth and richness that is completely free of musty or off-notes, with a character that is warm, clean, and deeply expressive.
The leaves are mature and full-bodied, with natural stems that contribute to the tea’s characteristic thickness and balance. The dry fragrance is comforting and grain-forward: cooked bean sweetness, warm grain, and a faint aged wood note that signals the depth within.
In the cup, the signature character is unmistakable: a thick, silky, glutinous texture that coats the mouth like slow-cooked red bean soup — smooth, slightly sandy, and deeply satisfying. The sweetness is internal and restrained, building quietly through the session and staying long after the last sip. The tea energy is steady and grounding, warming the body from the inside out.
This is a tea built for slow brewing and daily wellness. The longer it steeps, the more completely the red bean character unfolds. Patient brewing is rewarded generously.

Brewing Guidance
Brewing Guidance
Best Brewing Method: Thermos / insulated flask (strongly recommended)
Tea-to-Water Ratio: 1:160 to 1:200 (approx. 3g per 500ml)
Thermos Brewing Guide:
1. Rinse the leaves once with boiling water and discard — this awakens the leaves and removes any surface dust
2. Add rinsed leaves to thermos, fill with fully boiling water (100°C / 212°F)
3. Steep for 90–120 minutes — the red bean soup character fully unfolds with time
4. Pour and enjoy; re-steep with fresh boiling water as needed
⚠️ Important: Do not cold brew. This tea’s thick, glutinous character requires heat to fully develop — cold water will not extract the red bean depth and body.
Gaiwan Brewing (alternative):
• Use 5g per 110ml, boiling water
• Slow the pour and extend steeping time compared to lighter teas — this tea needs time to open up
• Longer steeping times (20–30 seconds and beyond) will better reveal the red bean sweetness and silky texture
