Huangjin Wanliang Gold Award Rougui | Wuyi Half-Rock Oolong | Peach & Honey Fruit Aroma
Huangjin Wanliang Gold Award Rougui | Wuyi Half-Rock Oolong | Peach & Honey Fruit Aroma
Huangjin Wanliang β Gold Award Rougui from Wuyi's Half-Rock Heartland
Some teas whisper. This one announces itself the moment the lid lifts.
Huangjin Wanliang (ι»ιδΈδΈ€) is a Gold Award-winning Rougui sourced from the core half-rock (ε岩) growing zones of Wuyi Mountain β the rolling hillside transitions of Yanzi Ke, Qingshi Yan, and Xingcun. Here, the soil is a rich blend of broken stone and red clay, with higher red earth content than the pure rock zones. More sunlight, moderate day-night temperature swings, and naturally mineral-rich ground encourage the tea trees to concentrate fructose and aromatic fruit compounds β making this Rougui's fruit fragrance exceptionally vibrant and expressive.
About This Tea β Ruixiang 305 Cultivar
This edition of Huangjin Wanliang is crafted from Ruixiang 305 (ηι¦ 305), a prized native cultivar from Wuyi's half-rock terrain. It undergoes a single-pass charcoal roast (δΈιη«) β a light-to-medium-light firing that passes through the charcoal kiln just once, with no re-roasting or resting period. This minimal roasting approach is intentional: it preserves the cultivar's natural character to the fullest, allowing the gardenia blossom, honey peach, and sweet honey fragrance to bloom freely. The result is a tea that is bright, lively, and approachable β with low fire energy, making it easy to enjoy right away.
Note: Due to the light roast, this tea is best enjoyed within 1β2 years. It is not suited for long-term aging.
Tasting Notes
- Dry Leaf: Tightly rolled, dark and lustrous
- Aroma: Gardenia blossom, honey peach, and sweet honey β fragrance that falls into the liquor and lingers long in the cup
- Flavor: Bright orange-yellow liquor, silky smooth and sweet on entry, very low bitterness or astringency. Half-rock mineral character is present but delicate β a quiet, refined rock character rather than a bold, dominant minerality
- Finish: A fast, lasting sweetness that blooms across the tongue and lingers well after the cup is empty
The Steeping Journey β 7 to 9 Infusions
- Steeps 1β3: Explosive floral fragrance β gardenia and honey peach at their most vibrant and expressive
- Steeps 4β6: The aroma transitions into a warm, honeyed sweetness as the floral notes soften
