Ma Tou Yan Rou Gui - Premium Wuyi Rock Oolong Tea
Ma Tou Yan Rou Gui - Premium Wuyi Rock Oolong Tea
The Bold Legend from Horse Head Rock
Ma Tou Yan Rou Gui is celebrated as one of the most powerful and charismatic rock oolongs from Wuyi Mountain's core zheng yan (正岩) terroir. Named after the distinctive horse-head-shaped rock formation known as "Five Horses Galloping," this premium tea embodies the bold, assertive character that has made it a benchmark for Wuyi cinnamon oolongs.
Why Ma Tou Yan Rou Gui Stands Out:
1. Noble Origin - Core Zheng Yan Terroir
Ma Tou Yan sits in Wuyi's prestigious zheng yan tea zone, where abundant sunlight and mineral-rich rocky soil infuse the tea with profound yan yun (rock essence). This is top-tier terroir producing the finest expression of rock tea.
2. Explosive Aroma - Layered Complexity
Dry leaves display tightly twisted, dark brown cords with a lustrous sheen. Upon brewing, the signature sharp cinnamon spice bursts forth, layered with peach, creamy sweetness, and fruit notes. The cold cup reveals persistent floral fragrance that lingers beautifully — every infusion is a new discovery!
3. Bold Taste - Powerful Tea Energy
The first sip delivers an assertive spicy kick that commands attention, yet the swift, intense sweetness and enduring throat resonance reveal remarkable depth. The yan yun unfolds in waves across the palate, maintaining rich, full-bodied character through 8+ infusions. Exceptional endurance!
Tasting Notes for Connoisseurs:
- Dry leaves: Tightly bound cords with white frost (sign of expert processing), dark brown with lustrous finish
- Aroma: Cinnamon spice + fruit fragrance is the foundation; any grassy notes may indicate lower-grade tea
- Taste: Authentic "Ma Rou" delivers bold intensity without astringency, quick sweetness, and smooth finish; inferior teas taste thin or cause throat tightness
Package Information:
- Each packet contains 8g of tea (perfect for one gaiwan session)
- Available in: 50g, 100g, 250g, and 500g sizes
