Mudan Fanggu Yixing Teapot — Fire-Glazed Golden Duanni, 450ml | Gift Set

Mudan Fanggu — Peony in the Antique Style

The Fanggu (仿古, "in the manner of the ancients") is one of Yixing’s most enduring classical forms — wide, commanding, and deeply rooted in the scholar-tea tradition of the Song and Ming dynasties. Named for the peony, China’s flower of wealth and honour, the Mudan Fanggu brings that classical authority into a surface that is anything but ordinary.

Handcrafted from raw Golden Duanni clay fired with the Huoyun (fire-cloud) technique (原矿黄金段泥火云烧), this generous 450ml pot emerges from the kiln uniquely marked by flame — warm amber, honey gold, and deep ochre shifting across its wide body in patterns no artisan could plan or repeat. Ancient form. Living surface. Every piece, one of a kind.

About Golden Duanni — Fire-Cloud Fired

Golden Duanni (黄金段泥) is a warm, mineral-rich Yixing clay with a naturally golden base tone. The Huoyun fire-cloud firing technique introduces deliberate flame and atmosphere variation during the kiln process — producing tonal shifts that resemble a landscape at dusk: amber bleeding into gold, gold deepening into ochre, with subtle blush tones where the flame touched most directly.

No two pieces emerge the same. The variation is the art. With use, the surface deepens further — building a patina that is part clay, part fire, part the memory of every tea brewed within it.
