Queming Songhe Gaode Zhong — Bird Song, Pine Valley & the Bell of Virtue
A name that conjures a complete world: a bird calling across a pine-filled valley, and somewhere in the distance, the deep resonance of a temple bell. The Gaode Zhong (bell of high virtue) form is one of Yixing’s most architecturally striking — tall, cylindrical, and upright, like a bell cast not in bronze but in earth.
This piece is signed by a contracted master artisan — a mark of verified authorship and elevated craft. It is handcrafted from raw Xuantie Shihuang clay (原矿玄铁石黄) — one of the rarest and most visually dramatic materials in the Yixing tradition — and arrives as a complete gift set, ready to present or to treasure.
About Xuantie Shihuang Clay
Xuantie Shihuang (玄铁石黄, literally “dark iron stone yellow”) is an exceptionally rare Yixing clay formed at the intersection of iron-rich dark mineral seams and warm yellow stone deposits. The result is a surface of extraordinary complexity: deep, near-black undertones shot through with warm amber and ochre — like iron ore catching firelight.
It fires dense and heavy, with excellent heat retention and a surface that develops a deep, almost metallic luster with seasoning. Among serious collectors, Xuantie Shihuang is considered one of the benchmark rare clays — visually unmistakable, technically demanding to work, and deeply rewarding to own.
