Zong Ye Xiang Wuyi Shui Xian (粽叶香武夷水仙) | Rice Dumpling Leaf & Brown Rice Rock Tea | 250g / 500g

Zong Ye Xiang Wuyi Shui Xian (粽叶香武夷水仙)

Close your eyes and take the first sip — and you're transported to a kitchen on Dragon Boat Festival morning, steam rising from fresh bamboo leaves wrapped around glutinous rice. That is the opening note of this extraordinary Wuyi Shui Xian: a clean, luminous zong ye fragrance (粽叶香) — the fresh, green scent of reed bamboo leaves, pure and transparent.

Then the liquor settles into the throat, and something warm and deeply comforting follows: a toasted brown rice sweetness (糊米香) — not raw grain, but the mellow, glutinous, nutty sweetness of grain slow-roasted over gentle heat. The whole cup feels like a bowl of cooled brown rice congee: silky, thick, and deeply satisfying. Not thin. Not sharp. Just round, full, and nourishing.

✦ Tasting Notes

  • Opening: Clear, fresh zong ye fragrance (粽叶清香) — clean bamboo-leaf aroma, bright and transparent
  • Mid-Palate: Warm toasted brown rice sweetness — mellow, glutinous, and gently sweet like slow-roasted grain
  • Mouthfeel: Silky and thick like rice congee — smooth, full-bodied, never thin or flat
  • Roast: Medium-full fire, roasted through perfectly — no green rawness, no harsh char, just clean and smooth from first sip to last
  • Finish: No dryness, no lock — followed by a slow, cool, sweet huigan (回甘) that rises gently from the throat
  • No bitterness. No astringency. A clean, full mouth after every cup.

✦ The Perfect Everyday Tea

This is a kou liang cha (口粮茶) — a daily drinker — in the truest sense. It doesn't shout for attention. But the unique interplay of zong ye fragrance and brown rice sweetness is so distinctive, so quietly memorable, that once you've tasted it, you'll reach for it again and again.

Zong ye fragrance leads. Brown rice sweetness closes. Silky like congee, clean like mountain air.
